Linear Air Chief Pilot Sean Dignan and Captain Dana DellaCroce will ferry the airplane from the manufacturer to Hanscom Field in Bedford, Massachusetts later this week. The company plans to enter the Eclipse into service soon after, becoming the first carrier to operate an Eclipse 500 jet taxi and ushering in a new era of personal air transportation at business airline prices.
The Eclipse 500, manufactured by Albuquerque, New Mexico based Eclipse Aviation Corporation, is first of a new class of aircraft called Very Light Jets, or VLJs. The cutting edge technology on board this revolutionary aircraft cuts the cost of personal jet travel in half, making personal air travel accessible to millions more than today. The Eclipse 500 cruises at over 400 miles per hour, seats 3 or 4 passengers with 2 pilots, and has a range of over 1,000 miles. Linear Air has ordered 30 Eclipse 500 very light jets, scheduled for delivery over the next two years.
