Air-taxi operator Linear Air is expanding service in the Caribbean and it closed a 2.5 million funding round.

Linear Air of Lexington provides regional private air travel to executives and families.

The company said that it has gotten certification from the French government to offer charter service in the Caribbean to the French West Indies, including the island of St. Bart’s.

The company also said it welcomed this certification with a group of new investors, including the European private equity firm COFRA Group.

According to Linear Air, it closed a $2.5 million funding round; it said it has raised $6 million to fuel its plan to be among the first air-taxi operators to begin flying the Eclipse 500 VLJ aircraft later this year.
