Linear Air, a Lexington operator of air taxis, said today it has formally launched seasonal passenger air-taxi service from San Juan International Airport in Puerto Rico.

Through March 31, the company will offer charter service to such Caribbean islands as the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas, and St. Croix.

“The Caribbean is the ideal location for our focus on providing the best value in short-hop regional travel for leisure and business travelers,” Linear Air chief executive William Herp said in a statement.

Linnear Air specializes in private charter services for short regional hops and has two permanent bases of operations for its Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft: at Hanscom Field in Bedford and at Westchester County Airport in White Plains, N.Y.
