Savannah
Southern hospitality oozes from the antebellum architecture of Savannah, Georgia, one of the nation's first planned cities. Savannah is home to eerie ghost tales, spooky Spanish moss, and compelling history, interspersed with foodie-inspired restaurants, trendy bars, and unique boutiques. From the manicured city parks to the historic River Street, Savannah is a city that invites you to slow down and soak up the charm. Many of the attractions are within walking distance of the many hotels in Savannah.
Savannah at a Glance
Atlanta is the one Georgia city that sees more annual visitors than Savannah. A whopping 14.8 million people stroll through the celebrated cobblestone streets of Savannah each year. Savannah has two distinct tourist seasons. The peak season is between March and early July, but another rush of visitors comes to Savannah in the fall. Named one of America's friendliest cities, you can count on the people of Savannah to welcome you no matter what month you visit.
Savannah's Location
Savannah is located on Georgia's Atlantic coast, 250 miles to the southeast of Atlanta. Hilton Head is only 45 miles up the coast. The Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport serves both cities. Savannah boasts a population of 145,000 people, but you never get the feeling that you are in a large city. The small-town, Southern friendliness permeates the community.
Although Savannah gives off tourist vibes, some notable businesses are headquartered there. One is Gulfstream Aerospace, an aircraft company. TMX Finance, Citi Trends, and Southeastern Shipbuilding Corporation are also based in Savannah.
